About

The Public Health Quality Improvement Exchange (PHQIX)
Sustained national efforts at quality improvement (QI) in public health are critical to optimizing population health across all populations. The goal of the PHQIX is to support QI efforts in public health practice throughout the United States. The PHQIX will be a communication hub for public health professionals interested in learning and sharing information about QI in public health. The project, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, began in March 2012.  The launch of the fully functional PHQIX website is scheduled for September 2012.

Web Site / PHQIX Development

The purpose of the PHQIX is to amplify what is being learned through these QI initiatives and facilitate increased use of QI in public health practice.  The PHQIX will include:

·         an online database of QI efforts conducted by governmental public health departments across the country
·         search and query functions to enable users to find interventions and tools relevant to their own health department and community needs
·         a forum for dialogue and learning among the site’s users

The PHQIX is currently being developed employing a user-centered design process.  A user group consisting of public health practitioners will provide input as the exchange is created using an agile development processes.

Quality Improvement Submissions

While the technology infrastructure of the PHQIX is being developed, initial submissions will be reviewed as the standardized submission format is established.  A standardized framework for describing submissions will facilitate the ability of practitioners to categorize and sort through submissions that are most relevant to them.  If you have questions about submissions, please contact Kelley Chester at kchester@rti.org or Diana Smith at dianasmith@rti.org.
